ICFs/MR
Intermediate Care Facilities for the Mentally Retarded or ICFs/MR are facilities providing four (4) or more beds that are funded directly with Medicaid dollars. These are generally larger facilities that meet all of the standards outlined by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services. Funding is attached to a "bed" (rather than a person) and is paid on a per diem basis.
